Does anyone know how indentures worked in the 1860s? My g.g.grandfather George Henry Lovett was in the Troy Orphan Asylum from 1863-1865 and then was indentured out to a George Sheldon of Willsboro,NY. Any one have any suggestions on how to get more info? Jackie
