Hello Listers, I am hoping someone will recognize the following names and perhaps be able to add to the information I have or maybe give me a clue as to where I should look next. BTW, I am always willing to share information!! My ggrandmother was Amanda Malvina PEASTER,born in Nassau (Brainhards Bridge), NY., April 22, 1831, m. James Harvey SMITH, b. May 28, 1828, on Feb. 18, 1849. One of her sisters was Sarah Ann PEASTER, and she married James' brother, Hiram SMITH. Other siblings of Amanda are Cornelius, Theodore, Marie and Gordon PEASTER. Amanda and Sarah, with their husbands lived in Hancock, MA. Biographical Reviews of James Harvey and Franklin SMITH, indicate that their father was John PEASTER and his father was Isaac PEASTER. In some places the name is spelled PIESTER or DePEYSTER, It is also noted that they were of German heritage and that Isaac emigrated from Germany along with his two brothers. Either Isaac or John, is said to be a mason or farmer (or perhaps both). The father of James and Hiram SMITH, (Sylvester) built a large brick house in Hancock and I wonder if he was assisted in the masonery by the PEASTERS. The farm was thereafter known as the "Brick House Farm" and I would love to learn more about it. If you have any information or suggestions of where I might find assistance, I would be delighted. Thank You and Happy New Year! Margaret in NV
