Below is from the Haskins Family Genealogy Forum: Hello, I am searching for information about the family of Enoch Haskins Sr., whose son, Enoch Haskins Jr., fought in the Revolution as a private in the company commanded by Captain Gillett in the Massachusetts line. I have a copy of his pension application submitted in Troy, NY, on August 7, 1832. Enoch was residing in Pittstown at that time. He had marched to Yorktown and participated in that famous battle. Shortly thereafter he was afflicted with small pox. Among those testifying for his pension were his brother Azariah Haskins, Joseph Wadsworth, Wilbur Sherman, Jonathan Brown, Enoch Haskins Sr., and General Gilbert Eddy, all of Pittstown. The application states that Enoch Jr. was born in Norwich, Connecticut, in 1765, that he was not yet 2 years old when the family relocated to Lenox, Berkshire County, MA, that they resided in neighboring Pittsfield, MA, until Enoch was 21, that he then lived five or six years in Bridgeport, VT, and that he then settled in Pittstown, Rens! selaer County, NY. I believe that my ancestor, Mehitable Haskins,of Pittstown, NY, probably was the sister of Enoch Jr. Enoch Sr.'s mother was named Mehitable Badger, and he may have passed on the rather unusual first name to his daughter. Mehitable Haskins married Michael S. Vandercook, and her daughter Polly Vandercook married Orestes Badger, probably a cousin. Hope to hear from some of you! I was checking some family trees on line and found some additional info. This comes from trees that people submit so I am not sure they are accurate or documented. The Joseph Haskin that was married to Suviah Bosworth Haskin seems to have died in Shabonier, Illinois in 1858 and it said that his parents were Abel Haskin and Clarinda Phelps. He seems to be the right age for your Joseph but his parents aren't the same as you posted. This Joseph and Suviah had children, Joseph, died young, Alfred, Abel, Leonard and Mary. Catherine's maiden name was Flanagan and she was baptised in the Tipperary RC Parish in County Tipperary. I suspect Patrick is related in some manner. 1. Re: [NYRENSSE] HELP REPLY
    2. Hello You might start by giving us some Names, Dates, Location, DOB, DOM and DOD on the two men you are seeking. Also, it would help if you include the names of their spouses, siblings and children. I would put the Given Name and the Surname in the subject line. A good query would include giving briefly the information you have already, along with places you have already searched to prevent others from duplicating the work. If the two people are not related or connected, it would be best to write 2 separate queries including the information on each one. Pat R

    1. [NYRENSSE] Foucrault and Foucreau
    2. Pat Beaumont
    3. In French, both these names are pronounced exactly alike. So a Frenchmen who heard the name pronounced and had not seen it written could have easily written it one way or the other. Perhaps even family members might have used both spellings at one time or another. Pat Beaumont
