Sometime after 1838, the widowed Olive Stone Bigelow Robinson and her three sons moved from their home in Bennington VT to live with Olive's sister and her family - Emma Lorraine Bigelow Squire and her husband John Squire. I have collected NO information to date, as I'm just beginning with these folks, so anything pertinent would be gratefully received! Ann Robinson McReynolds-Nall St. Louis
My gg-g'mother, her sister, and their several children traveled from Troy to Woodville, Wilkinson County MS every winter for a number of years (ROUGHLY 1838-1858) to escape the cold of winter, returning each spring....according to family lore, the trip was made by packet steamer, at least part of the way. I have been trying to find out information about these 19th century Snow Birds for years. SURELY, they were not alone in their travels. My g-g'f stayed on one year in the late 1850's, so our very deep New England roots have this solitary southern branch! I am fascinated by the idea of their annual trek. Hopefully someone else has found it intriguing, as well! Ann Robinson McReynolds-Nall St. Louis

Looking for parents of Mary E. Waters, married Charles Albert Hocum in Stephentown 25 July 1870. They raised their family in Franklin Co, MA I think her parents were Daniel Waters and Lucinda Marilla Hinkley. There is an Eliza or a Mary E. listed on all the census records I have found mentioning this family. Daniel served in the 125 NYS Vol, was captured at Harpers' Ferry and released the following day then captured again later in Petersburg, VA. This time he was not as fortunate. He was sent to Andersonville prison in GA where he died 27 Sep 1864. Lucinda Marilla remained in Stephentown and died 10 Jun 1887. She is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Stephentown. There was a son, Nathan, who married Anna ?. He died 25 Apr 1901 and is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Stephentown. There was also a daughter, Betsey, b. 29 Jan 1853. Her last name was Herwig in 1887. The 1855 census lists a John Hinkley living with them as a boarder. When I looked up Daniel's pension records at the Nat'l Archives in DC I found Lucinda's maiden name to be Hinkley. I wonder if John is her father? I would like proof that Daniel and Lucinda are MY Mary E.'s parents. Also would like to verify my suspicion that John Hinkley is Lucinda's father. Hello All, I have been trying to find the parents of Gideon G. SANFORD for some time. He was born in Rensselaer County in about 1808. He was married there by 1835, but I do not have the name of his wife. He had a son George G. SANFORD who married a Maggie prior to the Civil War. George died as a result of wounds received during the war. Gideon moved to Fulton County where he married Julia VAN SLYCK in about 1848. There were a number of SANFORDS living in Rensselaer County. Does anyone have any information about Gideon? Richard Hayes >From the shores of Grand Traverse Bay RchrdHayes@aol.com

Greetings Listers: My ancestors all came from the Berlin and Stephantown areas. I am particularly interested in Seventh Day Baptist records. Researching the following: Arnold DAVIS b. 12 Dec. 1780 in Charlestown, RI d. 19 June 1861 in Berlin WHO ARE HIS PARENTS??? Married Esther GREENE (daughter of John GREENE and Catherine Godfrey NICHOLS) on 22 Dec. 1799 in Charlestown. Esther was b. 8 Nov. 1784 and d. 28 Aug. 1865 in Berlin. Their son Silas W. DAVIS married Honor Emeline CARPENTER on 13 Sept 1836. She was the daughter of: Arnold CARPENTER--is he the Arnold Carpenter buried in Denison Cemetery in Stephentown? If so, his parents are Samuel CARPENTER and Honor ARNOLD, but I'm not sure, and -- Harriette FERRIS -- who are her parents? Arnold and Harriette had four daughters. I have parents of John GREENE as Joseph GREENE and Margaret GREENMAN. Parents of Catherine NICHOLS were Jonathan NICHOLS and Hannah GODFREY. Parents of Honor ARNOLD were Stephan ARNOLD and Martha GARDINER. All these people at least died (if not born) in Rensselaer County. Happy to share information. Margot in Wisconsin
