    1. [NYRENSSE] McIntrye & Markham
    2. Marion Markham
    3. I am looking for information about the McIntyre family. Vesta Louise McIntyre, who was born in Hoosick Falls and married George Phillips Markham -- also of Hoosick Falls -- in 1886. Her father, John McIntyre was probably born in Richmondville. George's father was supposedly the president of a bank in Hoosick Falls. George and Vesta moved to Binghamton, where my husband's father, George Emerson Markham, was born in 1904. Does anyone has any connection to or recognize the names? Marion Markham

    1. [NYRENSSE] Thebault - new name
    2. Judy Pausley
    3. I received the civil war pension records on one of my family, Prosper Spenard. It has a new name in its informtion. Prosper's wife had been married before to a Maglorie Thibault and that Mr. Thibault had died in 1857. Does anyone recognize this last name from their research in Troy. Interestingly enough Maglione is listed on my g, g, g, grandfather's death certificate as his middle name so possibly one of the two is misspelled. Judy Spenard Pausley

    3. Does anyone know what a mark that looks like a plus sign but has two horizontal lines rather than one would mean in a census square? It was in connection with two children, ages 10 and 9, who had attended school in that year. The census year was 1860. Thanks, Sharon Foley

    1. [NYRENSSE] Leonard family
    2. I have been trying to obtain information on my ggrandmother Mary Jane "Mae" LEONARD. She was from the Renssealar area. Her father was William Joseph LEONARD and her mother was Mary LYNCH. Mary Jane Leonard born October 7, 1887 was orphaned when her mother died in 1890 and her father in 1895. Her parents were Irish immigrants. The Leonard or Lynch families placed the child in a convent to be raised by the nuns. I do not know why the families did not take the child in, nor do I know what convent she was sent to. As a young woman she moved to the Ontario/Seneca County area and married a man named Calvin Williamson. She had a 2nd marriage to an James O'Neil and continued to live in Western NY until her death in 1980. If anyone can help unravel the mystery of grandma's childhood, I would love hearing from you. Thanks

    3. Hi, all... Thanks to the generosity of a volunteer who prefers to remain anonymous, the student list for the Washington Academy of Salem, NY, is online at the Washington County GenExchange web site under Yearbook Index, Faculty and Students. The year to which this list pertains is 1929, although that is not necessarily the year that these students graduated. http://www.genexchange.org/ny/washington/index.cfm The hometowns of the students were also provided and they include Hebron, Greenwich, Hoosick Falls, Hartford, CT, Arlington and Bennington, VT, and even Albany, NY. A few of the surnames include: FOX, ROTTENFUSSER, GRAY, ROBERSON, MAKI, BENTLEY, HILTON, HANNIBAL, BURK, PERRY, MOFFITT and CALAHAN. Good hunting, everyone! 3. Hi all - Really would like to find out ANYTHING about Phineas Masters of Schaghticoke during the first third of the 19th Century. He was gone/deceased from Shaghticoke by the 1830 census. I need to know who his family was and if he had a son named Henry. I know Phineas' ancestry & I know Henry's descendants...just need to make the Phineas/Henry connection to complete the line. Thanks, Butch Butler Charleston, SC - -------------------------------------------------------- Butch Butler Mount Pleasant, SC <bbutler@home.com> Home page:<http://members.home.net/bbutler/index.html> Genealogy page:<http://members.home.net/bbutler/genpage2.html> - -------------------------------------------------------

    1. [NYRENSSE] roll Call - Lockwood, Ainsworth, Young/Youngs
    2. jgoakley
    3. My list of names leads off with Leonard Lockwood 1795-1841 from Poestenkill/Sand Lake area, I have no parents for him. His wife was Rebecca Ainsworth, born about 1795, and was still alive for the 1855 census. Could the Ainsworths be Aylesworths, just a different spelling? I am interested in Joshua Lockwood who is in French's "Gazatteer of the State of New York" listed as having built the first grist mill in West Sand Lake in 1768 with William Carpenter. He might be an ancestor of Leonard. Manuel and Nicholas Young of Schaghticoke are ancestors of mine, too. Nicholas Young/Youngs was a doctor, married to Martha. His will was probated in Albany County showing that he wrote it in 1789 and proved in February 1791. Martha died between the writing of the will and the probate. The will mentions his 3 sons, Emanuel, Daniel and John. Emanuel inherited land in Halfmoon, Saratoga County, lived there for awhile and then moved on to Montgomery County, NY. In many cases he was called Manuel rather than Emanuel. I would love to hear from any persons having information on these people or their spouses and siblings. Gerry Oakley

    1. [NYRENSSE] roll call: MYERS, KEENAN, ORR, RYAN, COUGHLIN, DWYER, LYNCH
    2. bmyers
    3. I found that my gggrandmother's name was Hannah RYAN. She married Thomas MYERS in Troy (date unknown). Thomas and Hannah had 5 children (not necessarily in this order): Margaret Myers DWYER Hannah Myers COUGHLIN Celia Myers LYNCH Thomas Michael MYERS William J. MYERS (my ggrandfather) William J. married Anne (Anna) KEENAN. Anne's parents were Bridgett ORR and Joseph (James?) KEENAN. I know of one brother of Anne's...James KEENAN. William and Anne had 10 children. My grandfather was one of these 10. William died in 1917. I believe William would have been born around 1875. I already spoke with a few of you regarding LUBY/LOOBY connections. I was told we had cousins of this surname, but have not found the exact connection yet.

    1. [NYRENSSE] photo for all Troy and POWERS researchers
    2. bmyers
    3. I just received a scanned copy via e-mail of a photo taken in 1917 of John Powers and his youth basketball team of the St. Joseph's Club in Troy. If anyone is interested, please reply and I will be happy to forward this on. John Powers ("Johnny" in the caption) is the only adult in this photo. The caption says he was the chief attendance officer in the Troy Public Schools. I know some of you are related and researching the Powers in Troy. For those of you who are not, here are some other names... Other names of youth (approximate ages between 11-15? give or take a few years) in this picture are: Jackie PENDERS, John MCAREVEY, Dave MCGRATH, Billy HAYDEN, William MYERS (my great uncle), and James MYERS (my grandfather). I am interested in finding an original of this photo. I believe this picture was scanned from a newspaper photo from one of the Troy papers. If anyone knows where I might find an original or good hard copy of this photo, I'd love to hear from you. I'd also love to hear from you if you have more info. on this team. Sincerely, Brooke Myers MYERS*KEENAN*ORR*RYAN*COUGHLIN*LYNCH*DWYER (so far...)
