I hate bring this to the lists but again I have received an email from Hahaha@sexyfun.net with another attachment. This time it is joke.exe. This is a virus, folks so if you get it don't open it. Just a warning because I thought they stopped but evidently they haven't. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, listowner

I hear it is enchantingly beautiful there, just like out of a storybook. Ron Myers
I am proud to say that I am now the listowner of a new list just starting as I write. It is for all those interested in traveling to Ireland. I am also hopeful that residents of Ireland will also join to help us in other countries find out about what is available to us travelers to your country. It will be a list open to discussion on all things related to travel in Ireland: geography, history, transportation, hotels, b&bs, restaurants, etc. etc. etc. To join, send an email to: Travel-Ireland-L-request@travel.rootsweb.com (substitute a D for digest form) Don't put anything in the subject line and only "subscribe" (without the quotes) in the body. If you belong to any Irish lists other than Clare, Limerick, CoTipperary, Kilkenny, Mayo, Galway, Kerry, Louisburgh, Genire, feel free to send a message to them announcing this new and exciting list (I already have sent messages to the ones mentioned). Hope to see you soon on the Travel-Ireland list. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA
I have recently taken over the duties of listowner of the Travel-Australia mailing list. I hope that now that you know it exists, some of you will join. Since I am planning a trip there in 2002, I am certainly interested in all travel kinds of information. If you have been to Australia or better yet, if you live there, we need you on this list to help people like me out. If you are planning to go there, this is also your list. I have also signed up to start a Travel-Ireland list and will let you all know when that starts. To join the Travel-Australia list, send an email to: TRAVEL-AUSTRALIA-L-request@travel.rootsweb.com If you want digest form, substitute the L with a D. Don't put anything in the subject and only "subscribe" in the body (without the quotes). Also, delete any signatures you may have. Hope to see you there...... -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, listowner

Does anyone have access to records of persons buried in St. Peter's cemetery, Troy, NY? I am trying to find the exact date of death for Owen McGough (b.1827 - d.1907) buried with his wife, Catherine Dugan (b.1843 - d.1872). I would also be happy with the phone number of the cemetery to ask them to do a look up. I'm living in Co. Kerry, Ireland and am having trouble locating a number and information. Sincerely, Michelle McGoff http://www.irishmcgoff.com
Does anyone have VR's for Troy-Rensselaer County for 1842 and/or 1848? I need to find information about the parents of: James Gray b. June 10, 1842 in Troy. Thomas Lyman Gray b. April 4, 1848 in Troy. It seems their parents (my GGGGrandfather and Grandmother) William and Ellen Gray, do not want to make it easy for me to find them!! They are not found in the 1850 or 1860 census for Rensselaer County. Thanks Patti (Gray) Smith
Hi, St. Peter's church in Troy keeps the records for St. Peter's cemetery. You have to write them a letter, and believe me, that's the only way you'll get an answer. I've even gone there a couple of times and they tell me to write a letter! Didn't even invite me in to the rectory, either time. Seems like high security. But I've always gotten an answer from Alice, even if I had to wait almost 6 months. Write to their records researcher Alice Flynn at: St. Peters Church 2310 Fifth Avenue Troy, NY 12180 phone: (518) 272-2750 It's not a very big cemetery and they have pretty good records. The following is on Ebay. I have no connection to the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=547334215 Here is a wonderful Pair of 1800's Cabinet Photos The one on the left is from Sipperly Leading Photographer 40 Classic Street Hoosick Falls New York Apparently a relative wrote on each of these telling who they were. The second one is dated 1890 F. Mowrey, Museum Building Cor. River and Fulton Streets These are apparently from what i can tell, brothers James Smith and Ed Smith Would guess about the same time frame although only the one is dated as you can see Still a great pair to add to a collection
For those who love to collect books, "History of Rensselaer County", by Nathaniel Bartlett Sylvester, 1880 reprinted 1992, 564 pp, is available from Higginson Books. Catalog # NY0332. E-mail higginsn@cove.com (note that there is no "o" in their e-mail address). Sorry, folks, I don't have a copy myself, so I can't offer to do lookups. I have no pecuniary interest in Higginson Books. I merely mention this in case someone wants to own a copy and doesn't know where to buy it. I think I have located my missing ancestors in the list for Horizon View Cemetery, Schodack. Where is this cemetery located, and is it likely that these were relocated graves? I ask because there is one guy there who I think died before 1905 but isn't interred until 1915. Any help appreciated, Eve *Van Denburgh, Van Buren, Witbeck, Rector*
Hello List; Last fall sometime a book , "History of Rensselaer County" by Nathaniel Bartlett Sylvester was mentioned here. I have tried to get it through ILL, and been notified it is for reference use only. So does any one on this list have a copy or have access to it in a library, and the time to do lookups? I was wanting to know if any of my JONES or wives were in it? Particularly interested in Silas, Abel, Timothy and Norman JONES from Rhode Island, living in Petersburg area 1790-1820. Also have nothing on families of Ruth GREEN, Abel's wife or Charlotte JORDAN, Timothy's wife. Also still hoping to find a first marriage for Norman JONES (b. 1801) around 1820. Thanks for any help with this. Maridel C-Brown

For all those who have asked the name of this book is The History of Troy New York-Troy's One Hundred Years 1789-1889, written by Arthur James Weise M.A. in 1891. The book I have was a reprint.
By the way the years for this book is 1789-1889. Bev
I wanted to let you all know that I have several times said that I would do look ups in my copy of The History of Troy and I get several request per week. I have decided to put my copy up for sale on ebay and while this is not written to get you to purchase it, it is written to first let you know that after the next week I will no longer be able to do look ups, but second, I will do any last minute look ups while I still own this book. I have had a lot of help from this group and have tried to do my share of helping and for that I thank you. Please send me any requests that you may have soon. Thanks
Any thoughts on the best way to track down someone on the 1790 census? A John Simpson was in Hoosick in 1790. I am trying to link him to my gr-gr-gr-gr grandfather. I can't find a lot of records for this time period. Timothy D. Simpson, Environmental Scientist U.S. EPA - Athens, GA 706-355-8736
I'm looking for any information, on the pedigree, of my Gr.Gr.Gr. Grandmother Ann Fuller. She was born abt. 1780 and died abt. 1851 in or around Auburn, Cayuga County, NY. She was married to Edward Rathbone (Rathbun) abt. 1799 in Cayuga County, NY. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Don Pfeufer
Hello List, The 1830 census for the Town of Grafton, Rensselaer Co. includes information on Cyrus DEAVENPORT (Davenport/Devenport). He was born between 1770 and 1780 and had a large family. Does anyone know anything about this family? My ancestor, Benona/Benoni Davenport/Devenport, lived in Rensselaer County until 1849 when he moved to Wisconsin. Benoni married Martha "Patti" Burdick, daughter of John and Sarah (Odell) Burdick of Grafton, in the early 1820s. I have had a lot of trouble discovering Benoni's parents. Is it possible Benoni is a son of Cyrus? Benoni had a son named Cyrus, so the name was in the family. Vern
