I will take a look, if you do not have any one for me you will not here from me. Thanks Fred
Sharon posted this on the Yahoo Irish Research mailing list and I have her permission to repost it on this list. Reminiscent of family estate records in Ireland, I have encountered a description of the NYS Library's holdings for the Van Rensselaer family as patroons in upstate New York. I had not realized that these records could extend in- to the mid-1800s. A small portion of the collection is listed below. Sharon Carberry "The Van Rensselaer Manor records hold a wealth of information on rural Albany and Rensselaer counties and their early residents. They largely date from the late 1600s to the 1850s, following the Anti-Rent Wars, by which time the family had relinquished its feudal rights to most of the land holdings. The records are available for research Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 PM in the reading room shared by the New York State Library and the New York State Archives on the third floor of the Cultural Education Center, Madison Avenue, Albany. The microfilm is located the main library on the seventh floor of the CEC. Some original records may be studied; however, in some cases, because of the fragile nature of some maps and surveys and the size and weight of the massive account ledgers, patrons should use the microfilm copies. For more information on the records, contact the Manuscripts and Special Collections Unit of the New York State Library at 518-474-6282." 134 Rent Ledger "C", 1789-1839. 1 v. Indexed. Hi Leslie, Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner, but as you can imagine, bringing the "life" back into this house has completely eaten up every last bit of free time. My plan is for the next couple of days to dig out my "Doty stuff" and look through it for you. I was very lucky and stumbled across someone a few years ago who said that they may have a little bit of info for me (when I was trying to fill in some of the blanks). Sure enough, she really did have "a little info", and I printed out some 125 pages of text that was quite detailed on the Doty line...plus what my mom's uncle or someone had done, I've got quite the list going! Lemme dig it out in the next day or two and go through looking for the names you're looking for. I'll be absolutely stunned if there's nothing at all you're looking for. But I'll see what I can find. Thanks for the info, and keep in touch! Scott :o)
Hi Patti, My plan is to be in the Albany-Troy area Weds. and Thurs. Will take your info with me and try to get into a library to do your look-up in the directory. Sheila
Hi Fred, No, unfortunately I have not ran across any of those names. It was only the other day when I was doing some Gray research when someone sent me the Goay indexed on the 1850 census and by birthdates and names I knew those were my Grays. I will keep my eyes open if I see any of those names. Hi Rmcfa, I have a number of Goewey family members on my website at www.angelfire.com/ga4/myhayes_family. I do not know if they are the ones you are looking for. Richard From the shores of Grand Traverse Bay
Ok I am contacting you. I do know of some king family members about third cousins. Fred she is very active genealogy. I have her Email if you would like it. You two can work it out. Fred.
I've "rescued" two old photographs, the first a photograph of Georgie KING of 443 3rd Avenue, Lansingburgh, New York. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Georgie looking to be in her teens or early 20's at the time it was taken. A second photograph is addressed "Merry Xmas to Georgie" from Minnie & Lou. This second photograph was taken in Racine, Wisconsin; likely sometime in the late 1890's or early 1900's with the two young women likely in their teens or 20's at the time. I'm hoping to be able to return the photographs to someone from the family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
In any of your research around Troy and Lansingburgh Have you ran accross the names of Goewey / Gowey / Goay/ goeway or Norton ? It would be solomon around 1785 or so. And children would be 1801 to 1816 ? Fred McFadden thank you in advance.

Do you have any records for a Solomon Goewey and his family ? FRED
Hi Scott, I am compiling a different kind of ancestry.... I am compiling a community history of the civilian population of the Saratoga Tax District of Albany County NY between 1767 and 1777. So I have taken Saratoga District tax records, Albany County Militia records and land records, to which I am attempting to add genealogical information. So I am going to take you up on your kind offer. I have several men with the surname of Doty in my database, whom I need to know about. Do you know anything about any of the following: Isaac Doty Levi Doty Philip Doty Alpheus Doty Philip Doty Stephen Doty I am as interested in the horizontal lines, i.e. siblings and cousins, as I am in the vertical lines, ancestors and descendants. I also write National Register Nominations, so in addition to doing a title search on your property, you might also want to look at real estate tax records for previous owners and old news papers for sale advertisements. Thank you for your help with the Doty clan. Sincerely, Leslie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott E. Scott, Have you gone to the Rensselaer County Clerk's Office on Third St. to research the deeds pertaining to your property? Lynn
Hey everyone, First the disclaimer...this isn't your run of the mill genealogy project. I'm actually trying to trace the history of my home. Why? I'll spare you all with the short version. My wife and I just bought a home in Troy which we've been able to confirm that the house did serve as Troy Public School #20 as recently as 1940 and as far back as 1901. We know that the land was lot #119 of the former Stow Farm, which was broken up and sold in 1870 by the Stow family. We're unsure of the time periods 1870-1901 and 1940-present. If any of you have come across any information - photos, text, floorplans...anything at all, please don't hesitate to send it my way. Finally, I'm a direct descendant of John Doty, who came to America on the Mayflower. Many of his descendants ended up here in the Capital District. I'm fortunate enough to have my mother's side of the family completely traced as far back as his arrival in this country, so if anyone is looking for Doty information, just gimme a shout and I'll see what I can do. Thanks a million! I'm looking forward to working with you all! Scott

Do I remember right, that Troy is your branch, Debbie? Yes, My branch is from the Troy area but I don't have Bessie in My database either. There is an Elizabeth born 1867 that was a granddaughter of Gersham and Philanda Brenenstuhl, perhaps it could be her. She could also be from one of the missing branches of the family tree. Debbie
