Hi- What religion is the Hidleys?? I am a lutheran christian and I assume the name is Germany. I would like to trace the Hidley family to a origination point if that was in Germany. Lets keep in touch. Melodee
Hi Melodee, My wife was born and raised on Hidley Road in Wynantskill ,Rens.County, NY. She lived less than a quarter mile from the Hidley family homestead after whom the road is named and knows/knew many of them very well. She is in fact related [shirttail] to them. The relationship is thru a Bonesteel who married a Van Buren who married a Hidley, if I remember right. I do know Catherine Elizabeth Hidley, born 29 Jan 1834, married Benjamin Van Buren. My wife's mother was a Bonesteel. Last Fall we were hiking in the hills acrossed the road from the Hidley homestead, and ran acrossed an old abandoned Hidley family cemetery with about 20 or 25 gravestones in it. I took pictures and will look up what names were there. It is listed as Hideley Cemetery on the NY, Rensselaer County GEN WEB site and there are a lot of Hidley/Hideley's listed in various cemeterys in the County. Your [I think] Joseph H., died 28 Sept 1872, age 42 and wife Carolina M.,died 29 Dec 1870, age33 are buried in the Hillside Cemetery Poestenkill, along with daughter Mary who died 18 Feb 1863 at age 4 years. There are many Hidley's listed in the Federal and New York State census records for Rensselaer County if you have access to them. If not, let the list know and we will do some lookups for you. Please include as much information as possible ie: dates, where born, living in what town, etc. Will get back to you with picture information after I locate them. Good luck Dave Rinsem Rochester, NY [email protected] wrote: >Hello- My name is Melodee slaney, I am researching my Hidley roots, > > His parents were Joesph Henry Hidley and Caroline Danforth, > > > > > > > >

From Joshua Bailey's book, I know that Albert E. Richmond was born in Pittstown, NY and he became proprietor of the Richmond House Hotel in N. Adams, MA. His brother, Josiah, married Lidia Milliman and they had one daughter, Anna P. Josiah died at age 27 and is buried in the Hoosick Cemetery. What happened to Anna P. in unknown. I'm searching for the parents of Wilbur Josiah Richmond, my great grandfather. I can find no record of his birth. His death certificate gives Hoosick, NY as his place of birth and Josiah as his father. His mother is listed as "unknown". Wilbur's daughter, Anna Phoebe Richmond, is my grandmother. From family papers, I know that Wilbur was born 9/23/1838 and lived/worked at the Richmond House and two of his children were born there. I feel that the two brothers, Albert and Josiah, are somehow linked to my grandmother. Does anyone have any info regarding Wilbur's birth or parents? Thanks in Advance, Lee Hamilton
I've "rescued" a group of four photographs all identified as members of the COONRAD or CONRAD Family of New York. The first photograph is identified as Edith STREETER COONRAD. The photograph was taken at the C. R. Clark Studio in Troy, NY, probably sometime in the 1870's or 1880's with Edith appearing to be in her teens or early 20's at the time. In addition to her name, someone has written "Mother of Mildred COONRAD (GUMMER)" on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is one of Hattie COONRAD (GEOWEY) and was taken at the A. Corden Studio in Troy, NY. This photograph appears to have been taken in the 1860's or 1870's, though a notation on the back states that she was born April 15, 1880. The girl in the photograph appears to be the same one pictured in the first photograph (Edith STREETER COONRAD) so I'm wondering if this photograph might be misidentified. The third photograph is identified as Edith COONRAD. Taken at the A. E. Warnica Studio in Troy, NY, the photograph is dated Dec 1899 and notes that Edith is 40 years old. The photograph appears to have been a gift "Merry Christmas - To Mildred - From Momma" suggesting that Mildred was her daughter. The fourth photograph is one of Mr. J. W. CONRAD of Center Brunswick, NY and was also taken at the A. E. Warnica Studio in Troy, NY. This photograph is dated 6 March 1900, indicates that Mr. CONRAD is 44 years old and is addressed "To Mildred". The name "Papa" is also noted on the back of the photograph leading me to believe that Edith and J. W. CONRAD were married and parents to Mildred as well. Based on limited research I believe that these photographs may all belong to the family of Joseph W. COONROD or COONRADT. Records indicate that Joseph W. COONROD was born in Brunswick, NY to parents Jacob P. & Jane M. COONROD. I find Joseph living with his own family in Brunswick, NY during the 1880 census with records providing the following information: Joseph W. COONRADT, age 24, born in NY, a Milk Peddler, parents born in NY Edith M. COONRADT, wife, age 22, born in NY, Keeping House, parents born in NY Hattie E. COONRADT, dau, age 2 months, born in NY Carrie M. HALL, other, age 9, born in NY, parents born in NY In 1900 Joseph COONRAD is recorded in the census still living in Brunswick, NY: Joseph W. COONRAD, age 43, born Nov 1856, married 22 years, born in NY, parents born in NY, a Blacksmith M. Edith COONRAD, age 41, born June 1858, married 22 years, 2 children/2 living, born in NY, parents born in VT/NY Hattie E. COONRAD, age 20, born Apr 1880, born in NY, a Crayon Artist Mildred COONRAD, age 6, born Aug 1893, born in NY In 1920 Joseph COONRAD is recorded in the census still living in Brunswick, NY: Joseph COONRAD, age 63, born in NY, parents born in NY, an Automobile Worker Edith M. COONRAD, wife, age 60, born in NY, parents born in NY Hattie C. GOWEY, dau, age 39, widow, born in NY, a Milliner J. M. GOWEY, grandson, age 12, born in NY, parents born in NY I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

It seems to me, very recently I wrote to the list about the problems Rootsweb was having with AOL and SpamCop subscribers. I also wrote that if you had problems with your email to contact me OFF list. Let's end this thread, write to each other about your email problems OFF list. Again, first check the archives to see if mail is going to the list that you are not receiving: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/NYRENSSE If you are NOT receiving mail, DON'T post to the list, see first if you are subscribed to the list at: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Also, don't forget to check out the Help desk: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ Then, if you still are in a flux about your email, write me. Consider this subject as OFF topic. Thanks for your cooperation. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, list admin http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

I have a yahoo address and don't have any trouble getting e-mails. Maybe AOL members might want to get a yahoo address (for free) and use that address for rootsweb purposes (it saves the hassle if you change internet providers too!). ~ Pam [email protected] wrote: I have not been getting any mail from list, aol and severial others have had big fights with rootweb and holding up some of it. Dear List Administrators, I am a computer illiterate. I have changed IP providers. Therefore, I need to unsubscribe my old e-mail address from your list. My old e-mail address is [email protected] Unfortunately, I do not have access to my old e-mail box at present, so I do not know how to unsubscribe my old address. Would you kindly lend me a hand so that I do not gum up your computer system with bounced e-mails when my account at AXS2000.net is terminated at the end of this month. Thank you for your kind consideration in this matter. Very truly yours, Leslie B. Potter Glen Mills, PA

If you don't know the administrator's personal email address, just substitute the L or D with admin for any list and it will go to the administrator. For this list: [email protected] Also, if you go to the Rootsweb lists index, find the list, there is a link for the admin of every list.
