I fully understand your problem and have run across it many, many times. Swedish records are wonderful. I have been working on my mom's side of the family for 30 years in the US and still have brick walls. My dad's Swedish side took me 1 year (they were from Oland). Don't give up yet. I find the directories and state census records to be very helpful when I cannot find people I want on the Federal Census.
