    1. Re: [NYQUEENS] looking for relatives/family of Michael R. Walsh
    2. Here is a picture of Michael R. Walsh of Corona, Queens, NY. Michael was born in 1920 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps 17 March 1942. In civilian life he was a railroad clerk. He was 69 inches tall and weighed 150 pounds. Lt. Walsh was navigator on the B-17 of 401st BG, 615th BS. His plane was shot down by flak on March 25, 1944 and crashed near Pouguemai, France. Other crew members who perished that day included Capt. William M. Rumsey, Jr., Lt. Robert D Kaercher, T/Sgt. Donald B. Roberts, T/Sgt. William W. Carter, S/Sgt. Irving I Lieberman, S/Sgt. Ivan R Lee, and S/Sgt. Frank A. Rothwell. Lt. James D. Haffner [my ancestral name is Haefner (Hafner)] and Sgt. John B. Carson were captured and became POWs. My grandfather, Philip G. Haefner lived in Corona 1910-1938. My mother was Loretta Haefner. -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: NYQUEENS-L <NYQUEENS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thu, Sep 27, 2012 5:19 am Subject: [NYQUEENS] looking for relatives/family of Michael R.
