According to family lore, Lillian "went after her brother with a kitchen knife." And that's the end of the details. I believe she was committed sometime after 1908 and before 1920. I have two specific questions. 1) If Lilian had been criminally committed to either institution would records remain and if so where might they be? 2) It's possible she died in 1967 (SS Death record) as recorded at Suffolk County home to King's Park Psychiatric Center (but part of the state system?). Lillian was incarcerated there during the 1920 Census timeframe. So, where might I find a death certificate? I believe that Kings Park was part of Smithtown, NY and if the death happened in that facility then you should be able to get a death record from the county clerks office.
