One was the Long Island Daily Press and the other was the Long Island Daily Star, continued by the North Shore Daily Journal in Oct. 1938 (eventually this became the L. I. Star Journal in 1940). Keep in mind that many Queens families read the Brooklyn and New York City newspapers and a death notice or obituary may have been published in one or more of those newspapers. You may be able to borrow microfilm of the L. I. Press from the New York State Library at Albany NY. Check with your local public library for interlibrary loan procedures.
