Tel. is 718/520-5051 If there was no will, there may be an administration file. 1983 records are in the card index located in the Record Room and the files themselves for that year have been microfiched. If you are not local, the Mormons have the Queens County indexes thru 1986 in their collection and you can order the index from your most convenient LDS Family History Center to see if there is actually a file at the court. The index will provide a case file number, needed by the court's staff to retrieve records. If you are going in person to the court, bring photo ID and plenty of nickels & dimes for the photocopy machines if you are reviewing paper files. Prints from the microfiche reader-printers may still be free if you are using microfiche files.
