    3. I think many of you will be interested in reading the following message. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net _____ From: James Haas [mailto:jehaas@comcast.net] Sent: Monday, December 27, 2004 9:27 AM To: evc1369@comcast.net Subject: Book on Astoria Dear Ms. Cardinal, Read your note on the new book and decided to tell you about two others, written not about Astoria, but about the nearby town of College Point. The first is titled "This Gunner at His Piece" College Point New York & the Civil War with Biographies of the Men Who Served. There is much of both Civil War and genealogical interest in these pages, especially if your German ancestry happens to have a connection to Queens. The second is titled Conrad Poppenhusen: The Life of a German-American Industrial Pioneer and tells the story of the man who thanks to his rubber factory gave employment to many of the townspeople and actually put it on the map. Since I do not view the Queens Rootsweb site as a marketing tool, I have never promoted my own material there, but also since I have read your frequent notes, I thought you might like to know about the books. If interested you can go to www.jimhaasbooks.com <http://www.jimhaasbooks.com/> to learn more about the two works that have gotten good critical reviews. Happy New Year Jim Haas
