Hi Brooke, Here's the address of what used to be the Neponsit Beach Hospital. I believe the building is still there in Neponsit, New York. Neponsit is a very small and beautiful residential section, maybe 10 or 15 blocks long, on the western end of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens County, New York. The hospital faces Rockaway Beach Bloulevard and backs up the the beach on the ocean side. I think the patients were lucky to have such a nice view and maybe even got to go onto the beach as well. I was born and brought up in Belle Harbor which is right next to Neponsit and my friends and I used to ride our bikes to Riis Park which is right next to the Neponsit Beach Hospital. I remember it well. I don't know where your Dr. Basil McLean lived but there are a few McLean families that still live in that area. Could be that they are related. Good luck with your search. I have a copy of the Daily News 1954 article called "TB Hospital to Close..." in which it is mentioned that "Commissioner of the Hospital, Dr. Basil C. McLean, issued the order to close Neponsit Beach Hospital..." On the paper my mother wrote that he was a cousin. I'd like to find out how. Have no clue where he lived but my research shows the hospital was in Queens. Thanks. Brooke
