    3. While cleaning today, I moved some storage boxes and found some documents that had fallen behind them. In 1985, I had written to the Commissioner of Finance asking for help in documenting transfer of ownership of properties my great grandfather James Gallagher bought back in the 1800's in the Hunters Point section of what we now know as Long Island City. I was particularly interested in one property....located on 8th St. and Vernon Blvd. It later became known as 4629 Vernon Boulevard. It is a long story about swindling etc. that has always had me so interested in the property. I also made some handwritten notes that no longer mean anything to me. I might have checked records at an LDS Library. Apparently they sent me photo copies of the following: This document is undated but as it shows my great grandfather as owner it had to be before or around the time of his death which was 1902. It does not give house numbers. Perhaps someone will find the other names interesting. If you want more information, please let me know. The Gallagher/Donohue/Tarella property was only assessed at $ 500.00 more in 1963. If any of you know this area you will know what the value of homes and land is now....untouchable. Hope someone found a family name. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
