You will not find much in the early 19th century with the names of the property owners on a town or county map. If the family in at least some instances held the property for two or more generations, you may find the 1859 map useful. Possibly someone has this map posted on the internet - if not, the Queens Library has it, and possibly the L.I. Studies Institute at Hofstra University has Walling's map. Other large libraries, including the State Library at Albany, may also have it. The so-called Map of Property Owners, 1800, prepared by the Queens Topographical Bureau covers only the western towns of Queens County (Newtown, Jamaica, Flushing) and for the significant parcels it provides the deed references for land ownership circa 1800. E-mail me privately if you have any questions. George
