This talk may provide you with the kind of information that can help all who are researching their German ancestry to understand better the meaning and cultural context of their family's German surnames. Some of the specific topics that will be covered include the historical development of German family names, regional and dialectical differences, categories of names, as well as a general overview of how to better understand the origin and meaning of German names.
