I heard from someone tonight that MHT Cemetery had reclaimed and re used his grandfathers grave as they considered it abandoned. Has anyone every heard of this before? I seem to remember a discussion on one of the NY lists a few years ago and I thought it was said the catholic cemeteries in the NY and Brooklyn Diocese did not do this. If this is the case it concerns me and may concern you if you have family buried there many, many years ago and as in the case of Calvary have not paid the fees for perpetual care. With all the material Most Holy Trinity sent me yesterday along with the list of interments they did not include a bill ...was it paid....or do they not charge those fees? I am a bit concerned.... I think I need to write to both Calvary and Most Holy Trinity to let them know I am a descendant of the original purchasers and want to "stake my claim". At Calvary there are two family graves that have beautiful sandstone tomb stones from the 1860's. I would hate to think of them being torn down and so on. Anyone? Elizabeth V.
