Springfield Cemetery is in what is now the neighborhood of Springfield Gardens in what had been the Town of Jamaica, Queens County. According to William Applebie Eardeley, "Cemetery at Springfield, Town of Jamaica, Queens County, Long Island, New York : 1735 or 1760 to 1909 : 1185 stones : this cemetery is on Sprinfield Avenue, not farm from Lords Creamery : it is well kept and still used : there are a number of stones that are illegible, besides a number of rough stones, used to mark graves : it is about one mile from the Trolley line to Freeport, Long Island, New York : this cemetery is a large one & its location is well known."
