I have found specific reference in one of my ancestors deeds to an earlier deed (for the same 60 acre plot). It is stated that the earlier deed was between Henry/Mary Valentine and Phillip Allen on April 27th 1769. I have looked at the deed indexes (double and triple checked) and cannot find this land transaction. Does anyone have any experience and/or input as to why I'm having trouble finding this deed in the traditional search manner? Any other suggestions as to how I might find this Valentine/Allen deed?
