Hello all, I am new to the list. I am in search of a birth record for my maternal grandmother, Margarete Elizabeth HAUSS, born July 20, 1908 in New York City, NY. I went to the New York City Municipal Archives a few years back to look for it under Kings County, but no luck. I have a paper out of Kings County that gives her name, her birthdate and a certificate number, but no exact birthplace. The paper only says there is a copy of the record in Brooklyn, NY, and the paper itself is not dated. My mother told me she thought her mother was born in Brooklyn, but my mother's family always lived around Ridgewood and Glendale, NY, on the Brooklyn-Queens border. Because of the change of county borders over the years, I was never exactly sure which county my grandmother may have been born in - I figured it was most likely Kings County. Then, I recently found my grandmother at 1 year and 9 months of age on the 1910 New York Census on Ancestry.com. Her address at that time is listed as 425 Greene Street, Queens County! , NY. I a later. 425 Greene Avenue in Kings County is not *very* far from Ridgewood and Glendale in NYC, so I'm thinking it might be that same address that was listed on the 1910 Queens census.
