    1. Re: Question about information on marriage certificate in 1880
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1375.2 Message Board Post: You need to know the section of Queens in which your subjects lived. Long Island City marriage registers (*not certificates*) existed before 1880, but some of these registers included only the most basic information: bride, groom, minister, date -- no parental information or witnesses. Furthermore, there are gaps in these ledgers. I know the 1879 pages on which my gggps would have been listed are absent from the film, so I would guess there are other gaps. As far as I know, the other Queens town marriage registers (Flushing, Jamaica, etc.) didn't begin until 1881 (with an additional short period 1847-48). The family history catalog has groom indexes for these two periods. There were also Queens marriage certificates filed in Albany, but only for the period 1881-1897. These are available at the NYS Dept of Health. Good luck Patty Fagan Boston
