WOMAN IN RESERVOIR --- Body of Mrs. Meltzer Found in Reservoir in Highland Park --- SHE HAD COMMITTED SUICIDE The mystery shrouding the sudden disappearance of Mrs. Jennie Meltzer, 42, from her home at 2292 Pitkin avenue since May 7, was solved when her body was found drowned in the Ridgewood Reservoir, Highland Park, Thursday night. Her identity was positively established by her husband, Morris, who said that she had been suffering intense nervousness for several days prior to her disappearance. The police say that her mental condition led her to suicide. She is survived by her husband and five children." If an obituary had been published in this issue or in the following week, the Society would have clipped it. Extracts and/or abstracts of the May 1916 issues of the RIDGEWOOD TIMES are also on file at the historical society and there apparently was no news item, obituary or death notice published in that newspaper.
