This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1407.1.1 Message Board Post: You probably know about the Social Security Death Index : http://ssdi.rootsweb.com It lists an Abe FRANKLIN, born Dec. 18, 1890, who died at the time in your query (Nov. 1972). The last residence known to the Social Security Administration was in Richmond Hill, a section of the borough of Queens. When applying for a Social Security card, one fills out an SS-5 form listing birthplace and names of parents. After death, the SSA sells copies of the SS-5 to the public for $27.00. To apply, find Abe's entry, then click on "SS-5 Letter" on the right side. A form letter will be displayed on your screen, which you can print out and mail with the fee to the SSA. Then wait several months. Reg Niles
