I'm looking for information about Herman Hagedorn, who was, according to family history, the harbormaster of New York. He was, according to the 1880 census, a seaman. After that, I find nothing about him or his children. A son, Albert, is said to have died diving at Coney Island and another son, Henry, to have been killed serving as a mechanic at a Vanderburg Cup Race. Any ideas on where to look ? Especially for info on the harbormasters? Thanks, Donna
