He was with the 953rd Field Artillery Battalion, The letter was sent from APO 230. The 953rd was in Normandy. Landed 5 days after D Day. In the letter he is talking about how he can't say where he was and by the sounds of it the war was still very much alive. That's why I have issue with the year 1947. The war was over.
