I called the Daros's in the Huntington aea and they knew nothing about any connection with Albina. They probably are, they just don't know it. So, I keep digging, and calling. The Navy doesn't really have much to do with this, as in the case of the USS Flier, it was a family member who spent years searching for the sub, and once they found it, the NAVY verified that it was the Flier. I got started back in 2005, when 3 brothers decided to locate the sub their father was lost on, the USS Grunion. My uncle was also on this sub. Anyway, another gal in Atlanta and I started locating the Grunion families to spread the news, soon we were being called the "sub ladies" When the USS Wahoo was found, the Bowfin Museum director in Hawaii contacted us to see if we could do the same thing for the Wahoo that we did for the Grunion. To make a long story short the Flier is now my 4th sub. We welcome any and all who would like to help. There are 4 of us on the Flier now. No pay at all, in fact we try real hard not to pay for anything like obits etc, since we don't get reimbersed. But, I've been known to pay a dollar or 2 from time to time if I thought the info would be worth it. But, generally folks like you come through for us. I've written down your email, I live in KY and none of the other gals live in NY, so we could always use someone with knowledge of the area and its records.
