Ok so I was all set to go to the Municipal Archives Dept in NYC to get my hands on Marriage and Death certificates...but as I research what they have available, the people I need don't fall in the dates that they hold records for--they say that those things can be found online. I wanted to go IN PERSON because the online forms and links just take you in circles. And the links the the documents I need for the dates and people I am searching, don't appear and I know that these docs are somewhere be ause I have found the ACTUAL graves and numbers whereupon 4 Great Granparents are buried here in NY, SO I KNOW these death certificates ARE HERE. If I could get my hands on 3 death certificates (I already have one for my Great Grandmother Maddalena from Acerra), the other 3 would unlock EVERYTHING I need--I need their parents, maiden names etc...any suggestions on how to get death certificates? I have been searching for weeks and there doesn't seem to be a place onl! ine where anything past like 1948 exists to get them from or order them from. My great grandparents are - Rosa D'Angelo (would kill to know maiden name) born 1897 (in Sicily) died in 1981, her husband, Frank D'Angelo born 1889 in Sicily and died in 1959 (think his name is Francesco but everything I find on him her he uses the English version-but impossible his name is Frank from birth)--I am not sure, but I am pretty sure these 2 married here in NY. From my other side, the Maiello's, I would like to get my other great grandfathers death certificate too, Francesco Maiello from Acerra, Naples. I have found MUCH more on this side. I hold his wife, my great grandmothers death certificate--she died young here in Queens. They were married in Acerra and had 2 of there 7 kids in Acerra, the rest were born in Queens. For them I have found the exact record of the day, vessel etc that the 4 of them came over. But can't find info on their parents. Not in ANY way trying to put you to work, but just looking for ideas and direction--given what I know and where I have already hunted--on where to turn to next for any clues.
