It might be worth a try. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Yes, that is my great uncle Harry. My sister years ago had viewed his death certificate and we have a handwritten version of it so we knew about it, but to see it in print gave me the chills. If you saw the "Estate of Mary Matthews" that is my great grandmother, John's first wife and they had 7 children before she died in 1912. They lose one daughter before she dies and then after they lose 2 more sons, including Harry and then John dies in 1922. I am still searching on that website and have come across some more "stuff" on our family. Thanks again. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It took a little bit of time but I did find alot of articles written about him and his family and the bar/saloon was mentioned but no actual name was given. Just that he was the proprieter of a saloon and the address it was located in Maspeth. I was astounded though by the number of articles that he and his family appeared in and wanted to thank you again for pointing me in the right direction. I had been aware of that website in the past but never was able to find anything. I think I was putting incorrect search words or something. As far as the library, my sister and my cousin spent some time at the Queens Library - Long Island Division and was not able to find anything about the actual name of the bar so for now it will remain a mystery but it is possible that there just was no name for it. But the articles and information I am getting now abo! ut the family is really exciting and I truly appreciate your help. My great grandfather also owned the building too and his family lived upstairs. I was able to obtain a city directory from 1912 from the ancestry website and it lists my great grandfather's name under the Wines, Liquors & Lager Beer Saloons along with the address. We even have 2 pictures of the bar. We have always wanted to know if the bar had a name and how would we go about finding out the name of the bar? We weren't sure what the requirements were back then for owning a bar and whether or not you had to give it a name. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks. I want to thank you so much for your help. Yes, we did know how our great grandmother died. We found a census report where Frank was in prison or jail. I just couldn't find a death certificate or what happened to Joseph after he and some of his children went to live with William and Mary Bengraff. My mother, Emilie's daughter-in-law said she met Cecelia once and I have a picture of my father and Cecelia.I know the Murat's didn't see Emilie on a regular basis because of this tradegy. I have pictures of Joseph w/ Joseph Jr. and another of Caroline. My e-mail is nightsearcher2@bellsouth.net, I still haven't found a connection for Joseph with the royal Murat's. I do hope you know how your great grandmother died. There are other articles on the subject at fulton history. (use the quotes for your search) The area (Woodhaven) the Murat family lived in is now called (Ozone Park). The street - Shoe and Leather - is now names 102 Ave. I was shocked to see this because this is were my family lived. Your family at 209 mine at 210. Woodhaven and Ozone Park was mainly made up of French during the 1870 and 1880s. Must worked for La Lance and Grosjean. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm not sure of the spelling. She was born in 1869 and died either in 1909 or 1910. She was married to Joseph Muratin 188 and had at least 10 children. I believe she was born in the United States and lived in Queens. One of her children was my grandmother, Emilie Murat Saldanarco. I would appreciate any information either on the Juengst line or the Murat line. Rumor has it that Joseph Murat was related to the royal Murats.
