You have to have dates of death, and if the daughters married, their married names and communities of residence before anyone could possibly search for you. I'm not a researcher and cannot help you with this. Go to Google or your favorite search engine and enter in quotes "Queens Village" + "New York" and you will find some information on that community in eastern Queens County. You can check the New York City site for the police dept - www.nyc.gov/ - and also run a Google search for the "New York Police Department" If he retired from the force and drew a pension, there may still be records at a storage site. You can also try calling the NYC Police Museum (go to Google) and they have some suggestions.

Thomas C. McCarthy, General Secretary/Webmaster of the New York Correction History Society (www.correctionhistory.org) gave me a head's up on the following New York TIMES article, "A Treasure in the Attic, Too Toxic to Touch". http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/31/nyregion/thecity/31jail.html This article is about volumes containing court records, dating to the early 1900's, from a Manhattan prison on 121st Street in the Harlem neighborhood: The prison, built in 1893 and the oldest still standing in Manhattan, briefly served as a women's penitentiary. I hope this information is useful or, at least, interesting. Walter Greenspan

I have used them and at the time it cost me $8.00 for the search and copy of a death notice. Problem is if no notice was published they will keep the money for the search they do. I would also suggest that you follow up at the cemetery. What I understand some of the gravesites have several people buried in the same plot site. I have encountered this at St. Johns Cemetery where I had 6 relatives in one site. Queens Borough Public Library 4117 Main Street Flushing, New York 11355 718-661-1200 e-mail: www.queenspubliclibrary.org (go to Q-Central Library) you can email for the cost and how they are handling newspaper death notice research.
