    3. It might be less expensive to work through the NY Municipal Archives. You might also find death certificate numbers at http://www.italiangen.org/NYCDeathSearch.stm Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/Garden/4548/

    2. Does anyone out there know of a reputable researcher/genealogist with experience in searching Bronx and Queens Vital Statistics? I need birth, death, baptism, and marriage certificates for several ancestors. I understand fees are involved, and since I cannot get to NY, I need help obtaining these papers and would like to get them NOW. 3. Karen, If I were you I would send for a birth certificate using the Municipal Archives website and if possible using the certificate number you have and asked for a search in Kings County and for one in Queens County. In the long run, I think it would be the easiest way to get it and again in the long run probably the least expensive. Elizabeth V. 1. Need help with an old address
    2. Hello all, I am new to the list. I am in search of a birth record for my maternal grandmother, Margarete Elizabeth HAUSS, born July 20, 1908 in New York City, NY. I went to the New York City Municipal Archives a few years back to look for it under Kings County, but no luck. I have a paper out of Kings County that gives her name, her birthdate and a certificate number, but no exact birthplace. The paper only says there is a copy of the record in Brooklyn, NY, and the paper itself is not dated. My mother told me she thought her mother was born in Brooklyn, but my mother's family always lived around Ridgewood and Glendale, NY, on the Brooklyn- Queens border. Because of the change of county borders over the years, I was never exactly sure which county my grandmother may have been born in - I figured it was most likely Kings County. Then, I recently found my grandmother at 1 year and 9 months of age on the 1910 New York Census on Ancestry.com. Her address at that time is listed as 425 Greene Street, Queens County, NY. I am thinking maybe she was born at that address, but then the address later became part of Kings County?Checking Mapquest.com, I have found a Greene Street in Manhattan, a Green Avenue in Brooklyn, and nothing with the Greene name in Queens. Now I'm thinking maybe the census taker put down Greene Street instead of Greene Avenue, or the "street" became an "avenue" later. 425 Greene Avenue in Kings County is not *very* far from Ridgewood and Glendale in NYC, so I'm thinking it might be that same address that was listed on the 1910 Queens census. Is there anybody out there who could help me figure this confusion out? Thank you so much in advance for any insight you can provide... Karen RosAngel247@verizon.net

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WUB.2ACI/1318 Message Board Post: Volunteers Needed We almost have the New York City Bride Index ready to be put on the Internet but we still have some additional cards to be typed. Some volunteers have had the cards for over 10 months and have not completed their assignment. So, what we are looking for are come dedicated typists. I'm looking for a group that can come forward and do a little bit. If I get enough volunteers, I can give everyone just a littl bit to do and we can get this completed in no time. If you can help, please get back to me and I will make copies of the cards and mail you the cards for typing at home into a simple Excel file. A sample file will be provided upon request. The Brides index includes: Brooklyn, 1871-1910 and 1930 to 1937 Bronx, 1899 to 1937 Queens, 1905 to 1937 Keep in mind, these are very important indexes especially when you don't know the names of the men your female ancestors married. Most public libraries have newspapers on microfilm and will do the search for a fee. I would suggest calling them or writing to see if they provide this service at this branch or at the main Queens Public Library. I have used the main library for death notices as I live out of state. Also remember that the money will be unrefundable if they don't find a notice. You can also contact the funeral director to see if one was published and if they have a copy of it. They maybe willing to send it to you. Hope this will help you out. Flushing Library 41-17 Main Street, Flushing NY, 11355 (718) 661-1200
