    3. Johan Jacob Frey was born in Bavaria in 1818. His wife Elisabetha was born in 1826 also in Bavaria. We have them on the 1880 Census living on Borden Avenue in Long Island City. At that time it shows him to be not working due to ill health. We have no idea when they died or where they are buried and they do not appear on the database provided by the Italian Genealogy group or at least we cannot pick them out. 1. Re: [QUEENS] Re: Question about information on marriage certificate in 1880
    2. This probably won't help you, but Brooklyn 1875 MC had lots of information that we didn't have. Currently it is in storage so can't type it for you, BUT parents names were there, signatures of the bride and groom were there. For me, this are the only signatures I have ever seen of either of my ggparents. Twas a blessing for me. was worth the money. Once I got that, Ihad a new name to look in census for, and found many relatives of the groom. something happened during marriage, and the skeleton went into closet. the bride NEVER talked about the husband, and apparently threw away all records she had and photos of him. (she was a lovely lady, NOT!) I discovered the grooms family in the same local area my grandma lived and worked in, and to my knowlegdge she knew nothing about them. I even found them in the same cemetary, buried a short distance away, and we plus the New York family never knew about them. It was all worth it to me. Blessings, Judy in CA

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1375.2 Message Board Post: You need to know the section of Queens in which your subjects lived. Long Island City marriage registers (*not certificates*) existed before 1880, but some of these registers included only the most basic information: bride, groom, minister, date -- no parental information or witnesses. Furthermore, there are gaps in these ledgers. I know the 1879 pages on which my gggps would have been listed are absent from the film, so I would guess there are other gaps. As far as I know, the other Queens town marriage registers (Flushing, Jamaica, etc.) didn't begin until 1881 (with an additional short period 1847-48). The family history catalog has groom indexes for these two periods. There were also Queens marriage certificates filed in Albany, but only for the period 1881-1897. These are available at the NYS Dept of Health. Good luck Patty Fagan Boston

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1374.1 Message Board Post: Your chances of finding a birth record from 1851 on a particular person in NYC are very slim. Most working class people did not report births that early, records were not kept/enforced until later in the 1800's and even then, many went unreported. Your best bet is curch records, baptisim records. But, that assumes the family was involved with a church, you know what church, and the church still exsists. You might try a search on Familysearch.org, and also look in their microfilm holdings and see what years they have microfilmed for the birth indexes of NYC. You can order these films thru your local Family History center. If it was Queens County you would have to go directly to the town that the event happened in (LDS did not microfilm Queens and east) and again chances are on an event that early the town will not have records, but check churches. Good luck, Janet

I haven't seen a certificate from Queens Co. yet for that time frame, but have many from NYC area and they usually contain current address, age, where born, parents names, what # marriage is it, name of person marrying them and where it took place, and witnesses. Parents names are always most valuable to me, but I'm amazed at how many times I find that they don't know their mother's maiden name!

    3. Hello Steve, No, sorry I can't help you with any addresses. I had thought about you today and I was going to email you earlier to see how you are doing but got side tracked with my major yard remodeling. So how are you doing? How's the weather? The weather here in Ca. is and always has been strange. It will be sunny and hot, then the wind will start blowing, the sky will get an overcast and it will look like rain. Then all of a sudden the sky is clear and hot. The town that I live in is close to the base of the mountains and right in the center of what is called the Santa Ana Winds. One morning I had opened my door to let my dog out and the wind had blown one of my hanging plants right off the hook and blown over my bakers rack and all those poor plants were all in different parts of the yard. They made it through okay. Gave them some plant vitiams and fixed the bakers rack so if it blew that hard again they would be safe and fixed the hanging one to. Well the sun is coming up, time for bed for me. Take Care, Cynthia Imock98@aol.com wrote: Dear pagers, I am looking for a 1915 address on Catalpa Avenue in Queens.
