Grace, If you are from St. Anthonys in Greenpoint it is listed and it is now combined with ...I think it is St. Stanislas. That is how I found it to write to them for baptismal certificates. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
I found this address and phone number for Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Williamsburgh - I hope it still works... I think the list of parishes found on the Brooklyn Diocese Website is a list of parish websites. The church I attended, St Anthony of Padua (which i KNOW is still in existence) isn't listed, either. In the 1930 Census, Queens, Distr 202 (NYC?) I find Bertha Hahn, F W 42 (1888) married . abt 1906 (no husband listed) and she is a necktie-maker. One daughter, Margaret , F W 22 (1907-1908) Single I've sent for a certificate of birth for this Margaret, hoping it is a match. Ruth sent the address for the church I was looking for. What threw me off was not finding it on the Diocesan website. Thanks everyone. I have the address. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/Garden/4548/

I don't think my certificate indicated church, since it was their application for license, but don't remember. judy in ca
No, you aren't spinning your wheels. Info from MA for me included (I can't look at it right now. I have moved and it is in storage): it had: names, birthdates, birthplaces, parents names, witnesses names, and signatures of the bride and groom. Don't give up. Their marriage was 10/19/1875. I have the church beautiful certificate, and didn't think the MA one would do much good. Boy! Was I wrong! Keep pressing on . . . Judy in CA
Unless I can find the marriage certificate of my great grandparents Jacob Frey and Franziska Schmitt from the middle 1870's in either King of Queens county all of the data I have collected on the ancestry of Franziska is useless. I have to have a US document that shows the full names of her parents. I have everything but that. I am awaiting the results of a search ordered from the Municipal Archives....the NY State Archives told me they do not have those records. IF they find it, does anyone know what information it will contain? I have no clue as to which Catholic Church they were married in as I do not know where she lived before she married. Am I "spinning my wheels"? Thanks Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/Garden/4548/

Frank passed away in August of 1956 and Selma passed on March 27, 1955. They lived in Maspeth. I no longer live in NY, which makes research difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Clara Schmitt born 1855 in Edesheim, Bavaria and Franziska Elisabeth Schmitt born 1858 in Edesheim are thought to be biological sisters. We have lots of circumstantial evidence but not one piece of convincing data. Does anyone have an idea how to find them on passenger records (on line)? They would have arrived before 1879 and their arrival would have been New York. Thank You Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
