Thanks Barb...but I don't think that is "my" Franziska Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
Nothing on the New York Passenger Lists, 1851-1891 for anyone who immigrated prior to 1977. There is one born in 1857 arrival date; 8/27/1883 On the Baden Germany Emigration Index, 1866-1911: Name: Franziska Schmidt Place of Origin (Town, District, Province): Neuhausen, Pforzheim, Baden Year Emigrated: 1866 Hope that this helps, but the Baden list does not have original records associated with it. If I come across anything else, I will forward it to you. If someone has Ancestry would you please do a look up on their passenger lists for me. I cannot go to the local FHC and do this myself. I am trying to locate immigration records for Franziska Schmitt and Clara Schmitt who seem to have arrived in the US prior to October of 1877 as records show that as the date of birth of Franziska's first child. Franziska was born about 1858 and Clara was born about 1855. Thank you for your help. This is quite important to me. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net

A question has come up regarding parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn and/or the Archdiocese of New York keeping records of the death of parishioners. When I wrote to parishes I was told they did not keep that type of record. Now a friend is saying that she has obtained such data not necessarily from the two NY dioceses. Has anyone had luck along this line? I am now wondering if I was given the correct information. Thanks Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net
If you are researching the above family who lived in the Greenpoint, Brooklyn are in the late 1800's and early 1900's please contact me. I received baptismal certificates for some of their children today along with quite a few that are for my Frey Line. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net

Hi, Janet..... As Lisa stated, it is sometimes very difficult to find individual gravesites at Lutheran All-Faiths Cemetery. I would suggest that you go to the place during the times that their office is open---if you ask one of the ladies on duty, they will usually call a groundskeeper who will accompany you to the gravesite, and he will assist you in finding the proper location of the plot. Lutheran All-Faiths is a beautiful, well-maintained cemetery--enjoy your trip! Thanks. Jo
Hello. Speaking from experience, even with a map, it is difficult to find that one grave among thousands at Lutheran. Have you been to Lutheran before? It is very large and located on both the north and south sides of Metropolitan Avenue. Many graves are also unmarked (no gravestone.) Some of the older stones are also illegible or written in German. Parking will not be a problem. The gates are open during business hours on weekends even when the office is closed and can be accessed from Metropolitan Avenue. I think the gates are closed at 5 pm in the summer, but it might be best to call their office to make sure. Good luck with your search! Elizabeth, The New York State census was taken in Queens, but the problem is that it is missing. See: _http://longislandgenealogy.com/NYStateCensus.html_ (http://longislandgenealogy.com/NYStateCensus.html) It appears that many of the State Censuses for Queens are missing.
