You can call or write ahead of your visit and ask for a map. Be very specific and say you would like them to mark where the grave is. Calvary is huge but it is contiguous. It can be difficult to find a grave if there is no headstone. The phone number is: 718-786-8000

From: Jan Ammann [mailto:janammann@sbcglobal.net] Sent: Tuesday, July 05, 2005 1:05 PM To: GERMAN-SURNAMES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Ger-Sur] Free Database - USA - WWI Registration Cards Hello Listers.. Well, another "good source" is again free this time for two weeks.July 4 to July 17. Go to this website: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/military/ww1/draft.htm "Ancestry has opened up its World War 1 Draft Registration records for visitors of Access Genealogy for free. The only thing required to view the records is an email address and your name. No credit card required! This is not a 14 day trial of all of their material. It is strictly limited to their World War 1 Draft Registration images. I went to the site (after clicking on its address on the accessgenealogy site and started searching. Even after I clicked to see the image, I was not asked for anything. However,I have registered there in the past and perhaps that is why. This database covers the years 1917 and 1918. It shows the person's name, age, birth date, where born, citizenship, where living now, occupation, employer, dependent relatives, and a good physical description. Hope everyone finds something useful!! 1. seeking JAYNES family of Long Island, New York
    2. Seeking anyone with information on the JAYNES family of Long Island, New York. Mary Ann JAYNES was born May 13, 1831 in Canada. Mary married James FRASER who was born Feb. 20, 1835 in Canada. According to 1880 census, Mary Ann JAYNES father was born in Long Island, New York. Her father married a Canadian. James FRASER's father was born in either Maine or MASS; his mother was born in Nova Soctia. I suspect both the FRASER and JAYNES family perhaps were in Nova Scotia (? Pictou). James FRASER and Mary Ann JAYNES had their first 4 children in Canada, and their last 4 children in New York; by 1880 census James & Mary Ann FRASER were residing in Argentine, Genesee County, Michigan. Chester W. FRASER Charles Albert FRASER Stephen (or S. STEPHEN) FRASER Sanderson FRASER Ettie FRASER Genevieve FRASER Eva May FRASER Sidney S. FRASER Thank you Judy Harley6364@aol.com

    1. Schmitt Passenger records
    2. Elizabeth V Cardinal
    3. Thank you to all who have sent me passenger records for Franziska and Clara Schmitt. I should have said there is no reason to believe either one came with anyone else. In fact, I am not sure the two women came together. There is little question that Franziska Schmitt's birth date was on or about 1858. I base that on her death certificate, census records and the birth certificates of her children. Clara Schmitt was born on or about 1855. This is also based on her death certificate and census records. Part of what I am trying to do is to prove these two women were sisters and not just coincidental neighbors as they lived next door to each other in Greenpoint and my grandmother the daughter of Franziska was born in the home of Clara Schmitt Stoll. With all the documentation I have nothing shows Franziska parents names and on Clara's death certificate it only gives her mothers first name. Yikes...this is one big brick wall. We have broken through other ones....and this is the last. If I can prove they were sisters then I will have ancestry back into the 1700's. Elizabeth V. Cardinal evc1369@comcast.net

I am not a "volunteer" but my rates are reasonable (except that I will take photos free of charge of your ancestors' gravesite at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, NY). I have been doing this for three years and have many satisfied customers who now have photos of their ancestors’ final resting places and homes, churches, etc. Please email me if interested
