    3. You will find bits and pieces of information on those interred in Calvary but know they are supplied by family members or someone who walks the cemetery and copies information from tombstones. Calvary cannot do a search for you. They will give you a list of burials in a particular grave for a fee if you can supply them with either the plot information or the date of death. Elizabeth V. Surnames: Echterbecker, Hugo and Adelaine Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1385.4.1 Message Board Post: That's interesting indeed. You know Hugo left my dad and Hattie (his wife) in around 1909. He left for another woman who was obviously Adelaine. My Dad had told me that he was dead, instead of what really happened. At that time it was to be ashamed that they were even family when they did that. I found out that when my Dad was about 30, he went to see his dad 'Hugo', and came back very bitter and never wanted to speak of him again. The third marriage listed on here is interesting. I wonder if he left Adelaine and married someone else? I would like to see if anyone knows who that is. Sounds like Mr. Hugo couldn't keep his pants up. Anyhow, if anyone knows the third wife was (or maybe it was just Adelaine?) then I would love to know who it was. Also, is that an address on the bottom? What city/state?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1386.1 Message Board Post: Do you want to apply for your father?s marriage license? According to "Genealogical Resources in the New York Metropolitan Area," pub. in 1989, the Marriage License Bureau (for Queens) is at the City Clerk?s Office, Queens Borough Hall, 120-55 Queens Blvd, Kew Gardens NY 11424; phone 718-520-3665. I hope this information is still current. It?s important to mention that you are his daughter and it wouldn?t hurt to provide a xerox copy of your photo i.d. when you send in the application or letter of application. What you receive may be a newly-prepared transcript of the license, rather than a photostat of the original. It will contain the grooom?s age, birthplace and names of his parents. Use that information to look up his exact date of birth if he was born in New York City. The annual index books are at the New York Public Library in Manhattan, on the first floor. I have posted information about that dozens of times at Ancestry.com. When you get his exact date of birth, go to this website : http://www.people-finders.ws Input his date of birth in this format: 01-04-1936. Input his name. If they don?t have him, try this website : http://ssdi.rootsweb.com It has an Advanced Search which accepts dates of birth. Reg Niles

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WUB.2ACI/1387.1 Message Board Post: A phrase in your query "Commissioner of the Hospital" doesn't sound right, but I'm willing to drop my objection in an effort to promote harmony on this message board. I checked the 1958 edition of the "American Medical Directory" and they spell his surname differently : Basil C. Maclean, born 1895, office in Manhattan. Using that birthyear, I checked the Social Security Death Index : http://ssdi.rootsweb.com They have Basil Maclean, born Dec. 24, 1895, died Feb. 1963. The names of his parents would be on the SS-5 form he filled out when applying for his Social Security card. If $27.00 is no problem, you can apply for a copy by clicking on "SS-5 Letter." The website says it takes several months to obtain a copy. If you decide to seek his obituary, I suggest you try The New York Times first---of the many daily and weekly newspapers published in New York City. Members of the NY Genealogical and Biographical Society have access to a special database of the Times. Reg Niles P.S. The 1951 "Medical Directory of New York State" has Basil Clarendon MacLEAN in Rochester, NY, as director of Strong Memorial Hospital. The 1954/1955 edition of "Social and Health Agencies of New York City," p. 231 shows Basil C. MacLEAN as commissioner of the Dept. of Hospitals, City of New York.

The latter one is a strictly Jewish burial place. Physical closeness is not usually the determining factor in the decision as to where a person is to be buried, however--religion of the deceased is usually much more of a factor as to where they will be buried..... For instance, if your people were Roman Catholics, they would be more likely to have been buried in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery in Flushing, or in Saint John's Cemetery in Middle Village..... Good luck, Jim Garrity
