Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.queens/4168/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have 2 different abstracts of the same will - for Richard Wilday of Flushing (Liber A:62), dtd. 13 Feb. 1688/89. 1. Published in NYGBR 65:118 (Apr. 1934). 2. From "Abstracts of Early Wills of Queens Co, NY: Recorded in Libers A & C of Deeds now in the Registers Office at Jamaica, NY, 1683-1744" - described as microfilm of typed manuscript at the Queens Borough Public Library in Jamaica, NY, part of the LI Collection, WPA Proj. No. 165-97-6999(6115) These 2 abstracts are basically the same, but differ in details. The former mentions monetary bequests to daughters & an inventory, while the latter does not. The latter mentions "Rocky Hill No. 46" while the former does not. Does Liber A still exist? If not, there must be yet another version from which both of these abstracts were taken in the 1930s. He died in Queens in 1972 and lived in Jackson Heights at the time. The Social Security Death Index lists the month and year he died, but not the day. In order to get a death certificate, I have to know the date he died. I know what cemetery he's buried in, but it's huge and I wouldn't know where to begin looking. He's not listed in the (very poor) database the cemetery has. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks - Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. A person can also be found by using first name if yoou have a birthdate. This is very interesting and certainly pertains to genealogy. I have a person who is missing since 1978. She would only be 56/57 years old today. She was married in California and no one has heard of her since. She may be divorced and remarried. She can't be found by either maiden or married name. Her husband also seems to be impossible to find as well, so we can't ask him. One person showed up in the SSDI with her first name and exact birth date. But this means nothing. She's still a young woman and the likelihood is she's still alive somewhere, using a different surname. Can she be declared dead? What if she's not, and is declared dead? Kevin, do you know the Statute of Limitations in California?
