Yes, I agree, I was just trying to compute when my David Dudley died and he couldn't have fathered Lottie. So that helps immensely!!! WOW, I have been trying to ID a photo in my great-grandfathers things for so long and knew it couldn't be his brother as he was too little. Now if I could only find children of Ruth or Doris Philby, I could share this pic with them. It's quite fab! When I looked at Thomas Cahills 1920 census and saw Margaret, I guessed it was his wife 1910 too. Now it all makes sense! THANK YOU! Philby. 1910 & 1920 census shows them in Kings, NY, but I only see a 'hint'. David was born in Brazil, Iowa in 1894. He must be the son or nephew of David Dudley Philby [Filby] b. 1847 in England died Jan 1890, Appanoose, Iowa. This David was brother to my gg-grandfather Samuel. I have photos of "the David Dudley family at Xmas" and one of a young boy about 3 or 4 taken in New York that is too young to be Samuel's brother. These things were found in Samuel's possession and would like to share the photos with family and figure out the connection to this David and Alvina. I also have this Davids WWI military registration card, he lived at "221 25 108th Ave. Queens Village, Queens, NY. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rchrdwvr Surnames: Nussbaum, Stoothoff, Shoppenhauer, Hood Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.queens/4179/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi - this is my first post. My great grandmother, Elizabeth Nussbaum, was born in Elmont, New York in 1886. She had sisters named Celia (or Cecilia?), Mag, Gertie, and Mary, and a brother named Pete. I'm looking for the names of Elizabeth's parents, who (according to family lore) were immigrants from Germany. From some census information, I believe the father may be named Victor, but I am unsure of this. Elizabeth Nussbaum married Cornelius Stoothoff and moved to Sanford, Florida. After Cornelius' death, she married George Habe. I have found some records of a Cecilia Shoppenhauer, who I believe may be Elizabeth's sister. But I'm having a hard time reconciling the maiden names. Cecilia was born in 1877 and her father was Konrad Shoppenhauer. I suspect that he may have died after she was born and her mother married a Nussbaum and had more children. Or this may be a complete red herring. I have found some records of a Gertie Nussbaum who married a Hood, but it's also unclear to me if this is the same person as my great grandmother's sister. Would be grateful for any assistance. Hopefully I can find the graves of Elizabeth's parents (I suspect they are on Long Island) and more information about her siblings. Thank you! Those dates are what I needed. It is nice the cemetery told you the information. I had called several times and they said they would send if I paid for them. This has been true with all the Catholic Cemeteries in Queens area. I have relatives buried at several and that is why I can't afford 99 to 100 dollars to get information for each grave site.. I would assume that she was his niece because at one time, he told me that when his family moved West to Illinois (abt 1865), they left behind the "educated" Higgins relatives in NY. I am assuming that Nellie would have been a descendant of those relatives. Unfortunately, I was about 10 at the time he told me and he didn't tell me the names of those family members or where they lived. But since his family lived in NYC before moving to Illinois, I would suspect the others lived there, or nearby, as well. Nor did he tell me the relationship(s). My Grandad quit school at 16 and went to work for the railroad finally retiring as an engineer in 1933. I realize this is a needle in the haystack search but it is now the ONLY clue I have to the NY relatives and the only hope of locating where my Grandad's Father was born in County Roscommon, probably in the vacinity of Boyle, and who his parents and siblings were. All other avenues have been pursued and are brickwalled for one reason or the other. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
