Hi Everyone, One more look up from sks? I may have a lead on my Heine family. My greatgrandfather was Frederick Heine and the census record (the only one I found for him was 1900) indicates that he arrived from Germany to the US in 1881. In the Castle Garden browser, I found a Heine family that came in in 1881. It seems the father was named Gottlieb, the mother Marie and several children (Friedrich-11, Gottlieb-8, Marie-7, Albert-2 and Robert 6m). I am trying to find out info about my Frederick Heine between his arrival in 1881 and prior to 1900. I also lose track of him after 1900. Since Frederick's son, John (my grandfather) was born in Rocky Point, L.I. and they are there in the 1900 census, I searched a directory at the Suffolk Cty Historical Society and found a Fred'rk Heine listed as a farmer. Since the family I found in castle Garden records is listed as farmers, I am trying to see if there is a connection. Since there is no 1890 census and they came to the US in 1881, this leaves me with little to search. By 1900 census, as I said, Friedrich (listed as Frederick Heine) is married (perhaps a 2nd or 3rd time). I haven't been able to find a Gottlieb Heine, but I did find a tree Marie Heine in connection with Friedrich, but no one else. If anyone has suggestions or would look up this family, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Liz _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Hi Everyone. I was hoping someone might be able to do a look up for me? I am stll looking for John Benjamin Dewar. I have him in the 1900-1930 census. I also have his marriage certificate and death certificate. The problem is that the info on the marriage certificate and the info on the death certificate for his parents and place of birth are different. On his marriage certificate he is listed as having been born in Vermont and his parents are listed as Constantin Dewar and Margret Bird. On his death certificate he is listed as being born in California on March 15, 1868 and his parents are listed as Edwin Dewar and Margret Hendrickson (both born in the US). All of the census records (1900-1930) where I have found him, indicate he was born in CA. On one of the census, he is listed as Benjamin Dewar. I know that the marriage certificate and death certificate are my John Benjamin Dewar because his wife's info (Ann Eliza Dayton) is consistent. Since Ann and John benjamin had a son, John E. Dewar, I am assuming that John Benjamin's father was probably Edwin. My problem is that I have not been able to find John Benjamin prior to his marriage to Ann Eliza Dayton. Would sks look up John Benjamin Dewar born March 15, 1868 (that's the date on his death certificate and the only date I have at this point)? I was hoping to find him in 1870 and/or 1880 census. I don't know when he came to NY, but I know he was there by 1892 when he married Ann Eliza; and I know he died in Glen Cove in 1933. All of their children were born in NY. They did move around between NYC, the Bronx, Queens and Long Island (possibly Brooklyn) I am trying to go back to find out who his parents were and where he was born. siblings, etc. I have been hitting a brick wall with this family. I appreciate any help on this one. Thanks, Liz _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail has tools for the New Busy. I had different spellings checked. Also had father's name checked at different dates, I even had maiden name of Mother checked. There is a child with maiden name and different first name buried in 1902 in the family plot. I have never been able to find who that child is. It could be Mother's brother's child as her parents are buried in plot next to this one. It is probably one of those questions that can never be answered. However, I will put another relative in find a grave and ask if someone can check stones around the plot. There could be another stone near by. dng Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. At findagrave you could request that the volunteer photograph all the stones in the plot or plots that you think are most likely. Explain why you're having trouble locating this person. I've had a couple of photo requests fulfilled for Calvary and the volunteers were both very helpful. Maybe a volunteer would have better results visiting the office in person. Good luck! I have two relatives that the cemetery (not Calvary) couldn't locate because they had been moved to a different plot and their original burial dates were not noted, just the reinterment date. It can throw you off track because the age at death & the wrong year of burial will give you an incorrect year of birth after doing the math.
