Origin/parantage of William Palmer is unknown. His wife, Elizabeth Taylor, was born in Yarmouth, Barnstable, MA, in 1716. He is on the Fredericksburgh(Patterson), NY, tax list as early as 1745, and inherited land in Patterson from his father-in-law, Nathan Taylor, in 1765. No record of his birth/marriage can be found. He served in the Dutchess County Militia, Third Regiment. His son, Nathan Palmer, was a vestryman of Christ Church, Episcopal, in 1797, leading to the possibility that he may have been of Scottish origin. Nathan and his wife are buried in this church cemetery, but subsequent generations after Nathan attended Patterson Baptist Church. The family property stayed in the possession of Palmers until after 1900. William Palmer's death date, and location of burial are unknown. This Palmer family is closely connected to the Yale family.
