The Putnam County Courier is a newspaper that covered the area and it is online, see _http://www.localarchives.org/mahopac/_ (http://www.localarchives.org/mahopac/) . When I research a few articles about Christian Corners 10 articles come up, one mentions a petition for new roads...... Article date January 18, 1929 of the Putnam County Courier TWO ROADS ASKED IN PUTNAM VALLEY AS TOWN'S SHARE OF MILEAGE Com. Silleck Names Spruce Hill-Christian's Corners and Adams-Croft's Corners Routes A petition containing 212 signatures and urging the improvement of the road from Fahnestock's Corners on the Carmel-Cold Spring highway southerly by way of Christian's Corners to the foot of Spruce Hill at the southern entrance to Lake Oscawana, all in the town of Putnam Valley, was presented to the Putnam County Planning & Developing Commission at a meeting in Carmel last Saturday. The petition which was a voluminous document containing 75 sheets was accompanied by a blue print map of the highways in Putnam Valley upon which the route requested in the petition was designated. Julius Alsberg, of Putnam Valley, presented the petition and maps and spoke briefly in behalf of the proposed route stating that it would make accessible much of the elevated land for development; bring increased assessment and additional taxes to help relieve the present high taxes; provide a direct route to Cold Spring..... It goes on with a copy of the petition another article gives a similar description dated October 26, 1929 ......In view of the fact that a large number of property owners located on the East and South side of Lake Oscawana have petitioned your Honorable Body to favorably consider the diverting of the Route known (by the Putnam County Planning and Development Commission) as No. 5, to run from Tompkins Corners to Christian Corners and thence southerly along Oscawana Heights road to the foot of Spruce Hill, and, connecting there with the proposed town road, which has already been financed by the Town of Putnam Valley.............- I have no idea if this is related to Richard Christian but I thought I would pass it along. I have spent many happy hours reading these newspaper articles finding family and seeing how life was for them. Hope it has been of some help. Have tried to find it on modern maps, but no luck. Wondering if it is the site of the the Richard Christian, from the Isle of Man, family farm.
