Her presentation will explain how to trace ancestors who came to the United States through New York City, including immigrants who arrived at Castle Garden and immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island. Ms. Hartzell was elected president of the Connecticut Professional Genealogist's Council in 2009. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. In addition to serving as assistant librarian at the LDS Family History Center in Newtown, Ms. Hartzell recently started a Genealogy Lab at the Woodbury Senior Community Center. Mark your calendar! The Ancestors Road Show is coming to Newtown on Saturday, April 10; signups begin on March 1st (send a note to newtowngenealogy@yahoo.com to request a consultation). On Wednesday, April 14, our speaker will be Peg Limbacher, vice president of the St. Andrews Society of Connecticut, who will discuss how to research Scottish genealogy. On May 12, Matthew Bielawa will present a program about tracing immigrant ancestors from Eastern Europe (rescheduled from our snowed-out February meeting). On June 9, our speaker will be Professor Timothy Jacobs, Registrar General of the Order of the Founder and Patriots of America. He will discuss breaking down genealogical brick walls.
