Westchester County Genealogical Society (NY) Upcoming Meeting MEETING INFO: WHAT: Exploring Woodlawn Cemetery with Susan Olsen WHEN: Saturday, Oct 9 @ 10 a.m. WHERE: The meeting opens at 10:00 a.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 600 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, NY. Woodlawn Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries in New York City. A rural cemetery located in the Bronx, it opened in 1863, in what was then southern Westchester County, in an area that was annexed to New York City in 1874. The cemetery covers more than 400 acres and is the resting place for more than 300,000 people. Woodlawn's Director of Historical Services Susan Olsen will describe the cemetery and the records available. Ms. Olsen is also the former Executive Director of Friends of Woodlawn. Guests are welcome.
