This came on on one of my NY-Lists, but has a CA reference. Does anyone have a connection? It has been sent to the NJ-Monmouth, NJ-Essex rootsweb lists, also NY- Hudson, NY-Irish, lists. You may want to pass it on to other lists. The original sender said she knew nothing about this photo, but to reply to <cardiels@comcast.net> who had sent it to the Essex list. I'm passing it to NY lists for Columbia, Dutchess, GEN-NYS, Hudson, Oneida, Otsego, Putnam and Tioga Counties. Jean Chapman Snow <From: cardiels@comcast.net Sent: 12/30/2008 Subj: [MAYO Family Photograph I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Jessie Estelle MAYO which was taken at the DeCamp & Crane Studio in Newark, New Jersey. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Jessie likely about 4 years old at the time it was taken. In addition to her name, someone has written "My Mother b. 1874, Newark, NJ, m. George Dawes VAN ARSDALE 1896" and "died Calif - 1946" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a MAYO Family Researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding Jessie and her family: Jessie MAYO b. 2 May 1874 daughter of Benjamin MAYO married George Dawes VAN ARSDALE (b. 28 Apr 1874 in Newark, NJ) on 14 May 1898 and together they had a daughter, Elisabeth Virginia VANARSDALE b. 23 Mar 1909. Their daughter Elisabeth never married and died in San Jose, CA on 19 Oct 1996.
