In case of probate records you will need the index to help you locate any records. Records for probate can be obtained from Court House but it will cost you about $90 per record unless you can find someone to do the research and copies for you. I have use the public library website for Mahopac Public Library and have found a lot of information on my family. They have old newspapers that contain information on families in the area. Also Fulton Newspapers website has a lot of putnam county information on old newspapers. Also try the Historical Society of Putnam County they may be of some help to you. These are the sources I have tried and have found tons of information on my family. I have had a difficult time in the pass but since these newspapers have gone online it has saved me a lot of money and found tons of information.
