Her mother was Frances Wood of Cornwall. Frances parentage was John Losey Wood and wife Mary. I, unfortunately, do not have a maiden name for her. John L. is the son of John Wood and ?. John Wood was born abt. 1752-4 and is a Revolutionary War veteran. His parents were Luke Wood and Elinor Wood. I am trying to research Franklin Couch because when I acquired John Wood's revolutionary war pension records there was correspondence from Franklin to NARA. For some reason he seems to think that John Wood was married to an Abiah ? Abiah is a family name as Frances Wood had a sister Abiah and named a child that too. What line of the Wood family are you interested in? Robin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Wood and his wife Mary of Cornwall NY. They lived at the bottom of Storm King Mt. and Edwards Cemetery is what was Wood property. On May 7, 1763 Luke Wood purchased 100 acres on Storm King Mt. in Cornwall from NYC merchant Robert James Livingston. He later purchased more property in 1780. Luke's son, John Wood, was born abt. 1754 and fought in the Revolutionary War. He had a son, John Losey Wood or John L. Wood in 1785. This is Rachel's father. Her siblings were Abiah, Frances, Luke, Cornelius, Hope, John L. Jr, and Charles L. I am descended from her sister Frances Wood who married Samuel Miller. Rachel and her husband Benjamin Lancaster are buried at Edwards Cemetery. Also, her father John L. Wood and sister Hope are buried there. Hope is listed as Hope Drew, wife of John Drew. Her brother Charles L. Wood is buried there too. Possibly her mother but there isn't a stone for her. I was in this graveyard abt. 2 weeks ago and! saw the stones myself. I am interested in any research that involves this family. Robin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. New Claim - February 23, 1787. … He (John Shaw, Timothy Shaw’s son,) lived in Dutchess Co. Joined the Brit. Govert. There appears by survey 186 acres … His father had been a Loyalist … 04) William S. Pelletreau, History of Putnam County, New York, With Bibliographical Sketches Of Its Prominent Men (Philadephia: W.W. Preston, 1886, ISBN 0-89062-006-7), refers to Timothy Shaw: - 04.1) Timothy Shaw defends the land claims of of the Philipse Family against the Nimham First Nations in an "Affidavit of Timothy Shaw, 1767". … Timothy Shaw made his home at the north end of the lake which from him took the name of Shaw s Pond until it was changed to Lake Gleneida. 04.3) In old burying ground on the Belden farm, at the southwest corner of Lake Gleneida, and where the slaves of the Belden family were buried in a small enclosure surrounding a single grave and a head stone recording the death of Deborah Shaw, who died May 5th., 1824, aged 84. She was an “alleged” white woman … She requested to be buried in that place because, as she said, "my ancestors lie there." It is probable that she was the daughter of Timothy Shaw and that a family burying place was there in early times. (Pelletreau, p. 282) 05) "...A family of the name of Shaw soon settled at Carmel village, on the north and south shores of the lake which still bears their name. ... situated on Shaw's Lake ... " The History Of Putnam County, William J. Blake, Pub. by Baker & Scribner (146 Nassau Street, New York, N.Y.), 1849. 06) I strongly disagree with Kenneth Linwood Shaw's assertion that Timothy Shaw (1715-1779) was a son of, even though he quotes me as a source for the Shaw Family information that I have sent him. There is no proof as to his assertions of Timothy Shaw's parentage. His allegations are as follows: Father: Israel Shaw b: 29 JAN 1659/60 in Page 20, Little Compton Town Records, Newport County, Rhode Island, New England; Mother: Mercy Tallman b: 1674 in of Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany. This is where I find his research: "John Shaw of Plymouth Plantation in Progress" to be flawed. Check: Muster Rolls of New York Provincial Troops, 1755-1764. Children of TIMOTHY SHAW are: 1) DEBORAH?2 SHAW, b. 1740; d. 05 May 1824, Carmel, Putnam Co. (old Dutchess Co.), N.Y.. Notes for DEBORAH?
