    1. [NYPUTNAM] Roll Call - James Ireland & Nancy Shaw
    2. Jean Carlson
    3. The following is from James Ireland's pension file - my 3rd grt grdfather. We have proved our Ireland line back to Thomas Ireland of L.I., NY. But we haven't found any positive proof for the parents of his wife Nancy Shaw. Our best guess is Ebenezer Shaw & Dorcas Mosher/Mosier. James & Nancy lived in Philipstown (1820-1830 census) & by 1850 were in Fishkill, NY. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions application for Pension by James Ireland James Ireland & Nancy Shaw were married December 28, 1815. James Ireland was born March 27, 1719 [error it was 1790]; Nancy Ireland wife of the above was born May 2, 1799; James Ireland was born May 26, 1838. James Ireland died May 16, 1855; Nancy Ireland wife of James Ireland died August 10, 1844 [error it was 1864]. This is to certify that I have examined the family record of which the above is an exact copy and find that there is no alterations or erasures. Dated: July 17, 1908 and signed by Lewis H. Little, Notary Public Fishkill on Hudson, NY My father's cousin wrote the following but I don't know what her sources were: "James Baker was a local preacher in Beacon, NY. His sister, Hannah Baker married a Shaw. Their unkn. Shaw son married Dorcus Mosher. They had 3 children: daughter Nancy Shaw married James Ireland (Cold Spring) and their daughter Frelove or (Freelove) Ireland married John B. Hawks." Jean

    1. [NYPUTNAM] ROLL CALL-WILLIAM PALMER, Nathan Taylor, Stephen Yale-Towners, NY
    2. Origin/parantage of William Palmer is unknown. His wife, Elizabeth Taylor, was born in Yarmouth, Barnstable, MA, in 1716. He is on the Fredericksburgh(Patterson), NY, tax list as early as 1745, and inherited land in Patterson from his father-in-law, Nathan Taylor, in 1765. No record of his birth/marriage can be found. He served in the Dutchess County Militia, Third Regiment. His son, Nathan Palmer, was a vestryman of Christ Church, Episcopal, in 1797, leading to the possibility that he may have been of Scottish origin. Nathan and his wife are buried in this church cemetery, but subsequent generations after Nathan attended Patterson Baptist Church. The family property stayed in the possession of Palmers until after 1900. William Palmer's death date, and location of burial are unknown. This Palmer family is closely connected to the Yale family.

    1. [NYPUTNAM] NJ Veterans Memorial Home graves in Vineland 1900 to 1966
    2. I asked permission to forward this to all of you on lists i belong too- a lot of our men ancestors left ny and parts of nj for south jersey care- so check it for your family-good site anyway. linda ps-since so many immigrated to ny or to south jersey afterwards, i am sending to those lists. families began to move around then! Hi Everyone, I am tired but happy!! I just finished documenting the cemetery at the NJ Veteran's Memorial Home in Vineland, NJ on www.findagrave.com. A big thank you goes to CEO Joe Romano who gave me a copy of the interments so that I was able to transcribe them. I do plan on photos of the tombstones but that will have to come in time. I will handle any specific requests first then get to the remainder of the cemetery. I have done a few on request already. This is an inactive cemetery as of 1966. So it is done!!! The earliest burials were in 1900. Many veterans of the Civil War and WWI are buried here as are some from the Spanish American War and WWII. Service information is included with many of the veterans which may be a help for those researching an individual. Many veteran's spouses are buried with them. Service records may be available to obtain further information. Many widows of veterans are buried here without their spouses. In many cases the service information for the veteran is included with her (even on the tombstone). It is only a guess but perhaps the spouse was lost while serving. I hope this will help in searching for veterans in your family trees especially in the south Jersey area although there are many from other states also. It is an honor to document the lives of our veterans who have served so gallantly for our nation.
