I have been able through Ancestry.com to fill in a lot of info. But I still am having trouble finding the parents of Dr. George W. Merritt (1839-1895)who was born in Otsego County, New York (as per the History of Otsego County found at http://genealogyandfamilyhistory.yuku.com/topic/440). I have the exact dates of his birth and death from the Cherry Valley Cemetery records. I am trying to track and confirm the parents of this George W. Merritt. I have included in my McClung family tree bits of info from other trees and documents that might support the people. But I remain uncertain. Who do you believe are George's parents, and what documents or sources do you rely on? By the way, we are distantly related to one another via the WHITE family line. The grandmother of Frances Isabelle "Fannie" (Gilbert) Merritt was Martha Cheney "Betsey" White and her ancestors i! nclude the White great grandfather who is related to my Mom's family.
