I note that in the 1880 census he is living next door to a Joseph Upham age 37, who would match the son Joseph in the 1850 census when Hannah Butts Upham was still his wife. The Cooperstown Freeman Journal of Oct. 24, 1856, lists her death as: "Oct. 7, Mrs. Hannah Upham, Laurens, at res. of S.B. Miller." (according to Gertrude Barber's transcription).
